I started writing this post when I got back from Portugal, now three weeks ago!! I finally decided to finish it off and post it :). This year I decided to pack more make-up than usual - why? I don't know - but I learnt that I didn't need half of it. I have, however, realised what my key items used on holiday are and in future I hopefully will not over-pack again...
This here, Is my travel make-up bag and all my make-up I took with me
The make-up I took consists of..,
- Face primer
- 2 Different types of tinted moisturisers with SPF
- Concealer, Face powder and Bronzer
- Crème Blusher, Powder Blusher
- 4 Lipsticks
- 4 Eye-liners
- 2 Eyebrow pencils
- Urban Decay Naked palette
- Mascara (4 mini tubes)
- Brushes
Concealer and Bronzer
I felt no need for tinted moisturisers or powder, a tiny bit of concealer under my eyes and on any blemishes was enough for me topped with bronzer.
Blushers
I used both the crème and powder blushers, I like to apply my crème blush to add a glow then dust some powder blush on top to add colour and set it.

Lipstick
I only took my lipstick for if we went out in the evening but when it came to it I never felt like putting lipstick on so I chose to wear a lip balm which would be more moisturising.
Eyebrow Pencil
I don't know why I took two? I just hate leaving things behind in case I do need them. I Used my Dior one a lot, to fill in my brows and to use as a light eye-liner in the evening so it wasn't as harsh as black.
Urban Decay Naked Palette
I was debating whether to take this or my MAC palette, I chose this because of the natural colours, I only ended up using the colours Sin and Buck.
Mascara
I took a few sample size tubes just in-case one ran out, however I only wore mascara two or three on the nights when we decided to go out, I used Mac's Zoom Lash. I love it.
Nail Varnishes
I only ended up using 2 of my eight nail varnishes! I was so spoilt for choice when I was packing, I did want to take more but resisted and I'm glad I did!
Obviously different the type of holiday would need to be considered, if I was going out partying every night I probably would need more make-up but I just went on a family holiday so it was more a relaxing, lazing about holiday :)
Hope you enjoyed reading :) What is in your travel make-up bag?

I think since i went travelling 2 years ago i really wouldn't pack too much make up for a holiday! I had one small makeup bag consisting of only concealer, foundation (which i only wore on a night out), blush, mascara, eyeliner and one duo eyeshadow! Can't believe how much i think i need now...maybe i would struggle after all :P
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get your makeup storage bag from?! :) Ive been looking for one for agesss! xxxx
ReplyDeleteShivvy - wow you did well then :) I think I always take more 'just in case'
ReplyDeleteEmily - I bought it from a small department store near me, It's by the brand 'Danielle' which I think they sell in quite a few department stores?
xxx
Yeah i think i did well but it was partly because i only had one backpack for 1 week so there was not room for 'just in case' :P
ReplyDeleteAlso, Emily i have a bag quite similar which was from Debenhams!
x
thankyouuu, i got one today from debenhams designed for toiletries :) xxxx
ReplyDeleteHaha I like this post- I do exactly the same. I went to Croatia with my boyfriend in June and because we'd only paid for one bag to be checked in, a rucksack, it was all a pretty tight squeeze. My boyfriend banned the naked palette because it was "too big" and "pointless", gutted haha x
ReplyDeleteaww that's such a cute and organied way of storing everything :)
ReplyDeletei can't believe i missed your post AGAINNN. this gives me tips for what to take if i go away :) can't believe you too all those mini mascaras haha! x
